Acceptance Testing a Cup Making Machine: A Practical Checklist Before You Sign Off

A Purchase Is Proven at Acceptance, Not at Order
Contract terms describe a machine; acceptance testing proves it. The difference between a smooth start-up and months of disputes usually comes down to what was measured, how, and against what baseline.
Shantou Longsheng Industry Co., Ltd. builds cup making machines, thermoforming lines and molds in Shantou City, Guangdong Province, and encourages buyers to test against their own product and material.
What to Measure — and How
1. Output over time, not peak output. Run the agreed format for at least two hours and record finished, packed cups per hour. Peak rate for ten minutes proves nothing; sustained rate pays the loan.
2. Cup weight spread. Weigh 50 consecutive cups per cavity group. The spread tells you how well heating, plug timing and the sheet itself are in control. Wide spread means the line will fight the filler's checkweigher forever.
3. Wall thickness distribution. Cut sample cups and measure base, lower wall and rim. Compare across cavities. This is where a good plug design and uniform heating show up.
4. Rim flatness and sealing test. Seal sample rims with your actual lidding film on your filler if possible. A rim that looks fine but leaks on the filling line is the classic acceptance failure.
5. Scrap and start-up behaviour. Count rejects after a planned stop and restart. Lines that need twenty minutes to stabilise waste real money in multi-shift plants.
6. Changeover time. Time a mold and material change with your own technicians observing, so training and spare parts planning start immediately.
Bring Your Own Material and Product
Acceptance with the supplier's demo material proves the machine works. Acceptance with your sheet, your gauge and your format proves the line will work in your plant. Bring a signed sample of the target cup and agree it is the reference before the test starts.
Documentation to Take Away
Utility requirements, heating-zone map, parameter sets per format, mold drawings reference, spare parts list with the first recommended stock, and operator training records. Longsheng supplies these with its FS-8556, HSS-8556 and HAI-8556 cup machines and thermoforming lines.
