Ten Questions Buyers Ask Before Ordering Thermoforming Equipment

Time: 2026-10-26 10:00:21.135

1. What is a realistic lead time?

Standard cup machines and small thermoformers typically run a few months from down payment, depending on the shop load. Custom molds add time with cavity count and complexity. Ask for a written schedule with milestones, not a single date.

2. Who owns the mold drawing?

The customer does, once paid for. We do not reuse a customer's cavity design for another buyer. Put this in the contract, not just an email.

3. Can one machine run PP and PET?

Yes, with different tooling and re-tuned heating. It is not a switch; the machine is capable, but the process window changes.

4. Do you supply the extruder too?

Yes. DSI-PP multi-layer co-extrusion, LSI PET/PLA with drying and crystallising system, and SI-PE. Buying sheet and forming from one supplier removes most of the blame game when quality drifts.

5. What is included in commissioning?

Installation supervision, a first run with the customer's own material, operator training and a parameter sheet per format. Remote follow-up is standard afterwards.

6. How do I compare quotations fairly?

Line up: cavity count, cycle time, part weight, drive type, mold material, spare parts list, warranty scope and whether training is included. Price alone tells you almost nothing.

7. What spare parts should I stock?

Heater elements, seals, corner pins, trim blades, one set of sensors and a PLC backup. We provide a first-year list matched to your formats.

8. Is servo worth the extra cost?

On multi-format production and short cycles, usually yes. On a single-format line with long shifts and few changes, a hydraulic machine such as the HAI-8556 can be the better economic choice.

9. Can I send samples for a trial?

Yes. Send your own sheet and a target part; we run a trial and return parts with forming data, which is more reliable than a catalogue.

10. What about patents and certification?

We hold 25 granted patents in China (1 invention, 24 utility models) and high-tech enterprise status. Certification needs differ by market; tell us the destination and we confirm what is available.
